The Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) is pleased to announce that Tisha Galarce has been appointed Human Resources Director as of February 20.
Galarce will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to ensure that IndyPL implements policies and procedures that align the workforce with the strategic goals of The Library. She will oversee our efforts in relation to attracting and developing a qualified, passionate, and diverse workforce, supervise the education and management of current staff, review and update our policies and procedures, and oversee staff compensation.
Galarce has served The Library as our Interim Human Resources Director since August 23, 2021, before accepting the permanent Human Resources Director position. Galarce graduated from Indiana State University, where she completed a bachelor's degree in Communications and HR Development. She has more than ten years of human resources experience and has worked with IndyPL for almost five years, previously working as an HR Generalist. Galarce is the first Latine HR director at The Library, as well as the first Latine member of The Library's executive committee.
“Throughout her career, Galarce has been dedicated to the mission and values of the Indianapolis Public Library,” said Gregory Hill, Sr. Acting CEO and Chief Public Services Officer (Interim) at The Indianapolis Public Library. “We have seen her ability to support staff during seasons of growth and change, and we are excited that she’s taking on this role at The Library.
Galarce is thankful that she can continue to serve the staff at IndyPL.
“I am looking forward to leading The Library during this transitional time,” said Galarce. “The HR team has made a lot of changes during my interim role, and I am looking forward to making changes to improve employees’ experience in this wonderful organization.”
