Indianapolis Public Library Seeks Community Input for Nora Branch Renovation Project

Northside residents are invited to offer suggestions for the renovation of the Nora Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library via a series of interactive meetings, offered both in-person and remotely, taking place on March 21 and May 16 from 7-8 p.m.

In addition to the meetings, a survey allowing patrons to share how they typically use Library services and what they would like to see in the renovated Library is currently available online and at the Nora Branch. Patron responses to the surveys will be accepted until the end of March.

“Before we start this renovation project, we want to make sure the community we serve has multiple opportunities to express their ideas and needs,” said Carri Genovese, interim branch manager for Nora. “These meetings are open to the public, and anyone can stop by and share input.”

The meetings will be led by architects and designers from Luminaut and Four Point Design, as well as representatives from The Library. Patrons who attend can solicit ideas for the renovation’s design and share local community needs.

The Nora Branch opened in 1971 on North Guilford Avenue and was expanded to 17,500-square-feet in 1990. This renovation, which will begin in October, will be the first major renovation of the interior of the branch since 1990.

The project budget of $2,250,000 will be funded by bonds approved by the Indianapolis City-County Council that are assessed without an increase in IndyPL’s current debt service tax rate.
